I'm flying to Portland tomorrow for a creatives conference that doesn't start till Thursday at 5 pm. What should I check out (and eat)? I'll be staying on the northwest side of the Willamette River.

Aint much to each that's not a chain in the area. Your close to the road course and drag strip though.

Don't miss Voodoo donuts, and the local McMenamins chain of bars are good.

Pretty much, actually have to head into downtown to find something good. If it was friday night you can go watch the drag races.

Head downtown. Lots of great places to check out. Henry's tavern, rogue, Powell's books, Portland city grill, one of my personal favorites is a little hole in the wall called Le Happy.
